The Scandinavian Inn is an environmentally-sensitive bed and breakfast in the historic community of Lanesboro, Minnesota — comfort without clutter. Our Victorian home, with carved woodwork and period furnishings, was built in 1893 by Ole Habberstad, a young entrepreneur and businessman who journeyed from the Norwegian community of Eidsvold in the mid-1800’s.
All bedrooms are air-conditioned with queen beds, private attached baths, and all include a full breakfast. Guests have use of our parlor, living room, front porch, second- and third-floor sitting rooms, third floor outdoor breezeway, and access to our rooftop gazebo. We have WiFi.
Our full from-scratch breakfast includes organic or regionally-grown produce, free-range eggs and meats, and shade-grown fair trade coffee, and we do our best to accommodate special dietary needs. “I can honestly say that was the best breakfast I’ve ever had.”
We line-dry towels and linens as the weather permits, apply no synthetic lawn chemicals, cut grass with a non-motorized mower, run errands by foot or bicycle, and clean with environmentally-friendly products. Our air conditioning is geothermal, but we like to give open windows, fans, and natural ventilation a chance first. “You have made us feel very much at home in an elegant way. Extremely gracious hosts.”
