Find a hotel, cabin, cottage or bed and breakfast in Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha, Nebraska, is one of the state’s most exciting cities, and certainly a top place for couples’ getaways. Here, you’ll find unbeatable cultural depth, gorgeous riverfront scenery, and a food scene that doesn’t disappoint. It’s so good that you may forget you’re in Nebraska! From walkable neighborhoods to thoughtful places to stay, the city works especially well for couples who want variety, comfort, and plenty of things to do.

There are plenty of things to do in Omaha, which makes it easy to shape a weekend around shared interests. One of our favorite things to do in Omaha is to visit the Old Market District, where cobblestone streets wind past restored brick buildings filled with galleries, boutiques, wine bars, and cafés. It is an ideal area for slow mornings and unplanned discoveries. Art lovers often include time at the Joslyn Art Museum, known for its European and contemporary collections, while others head toward the riverfront for a walk across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, where you can stroll hand in hand and stand in two states at once.

Omaha’s event calendar offers couples plenty more things to do. Omaha Lit Fest draws writers, poets, and readers together for a creative weekend that feels intimate and thoughtful. Beer-loving couples often plan trips around the Great Nebraska Beer Fest, which brings regional breweries together for tastings, pairings, and educational sessions that appeal to curious palates. Fill your time with plenty of smaller events and activities in between, and you’ll have no issue filling an itinerary full of fun things to do in Omaha.

Food and drink are central to Omaha’s appeal. Brickway Brewery and Distillery sits right in the Old Market and is a favorite stop for craft beer and house-distilled spirits. Their Maple Pecan Brown Ale and small batch bourbon cocktails fit perfectly into an evening out. Wine lovers often venture just outside the city to Soaring Wings Vineyard, where lake views, live music, and Nebraska-grown wines like Edelweiss and Chambourcin create an easygoing escape.

Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to dine out at top Omaha restaurants. V Mertz offers an intimate setting with chef-driven menus that work well for anniversaries and special occasions, and ranks as one of the best restaurants in Omaha. The Boiler Room pairs modern American cuisine with a polished industrial feel that reflects the city’s creative side. Dante is a longtime favorite for house-made pasta, thoughtful wine pairings, and a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that encourages lingering at the table.

Beyond dining and events, couples enjoy exploring riverfront parks, attending live performances, and discovering neighborhoods that balance history with fresh ideas. Each area adds something different to the experience, allowing visitors to shape their stay around what feels most appealing.

Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, celebrating a milestone, or searching for things to do in Omaha, Nebraska, staying at a local bed and breakfast offers a more personal way to experience the city. From restored historic homes to modern, design-focused inns, these places to stay provide comfort, character, and the kind of local insight that bring couples back for timeless getaways again and again.
