The Speckled Hen Inn distinguishes itself by being a Country Estate that is close to everything yet feels like you’re miles away! With the State Capitol only 6 miles away, you can choose to take advantage of all that downtown has to offer, or just retreat for a quiet getaway. The Speckled Hen Inn was named one of the Best Romantic Getaways in Wisconsin by Midwest Living Magazine in 2024.
The Inn features uniquely different Guest Rooms, offering private baths with whirlpool jetted tubs and fireplaces. Guests may enjoy the lounge, library and dining rooms, as well as the large gathering room with a guest galley kitchen, theater room, and game/puzzle table. In the winter, the wood stove is always kept burning, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere to enjoy a cup of cocoa or a glass of wine while you read a book or work on a puzzle.
The 20–acre property features pastures with our horse, sheep and llama, and many very pampered Speckled Hens that produce wonderful eggs that are used for our farm to table breakfasts. We offer up close animal encounters for our guests that want to learn more about them, give them a brushing, or maybe a treat!
The property also contains grassland and wetland areas, two creeks, spruce and pine plantations, orchards, walking trails, flower and vegetable gardens. There are many sitting areas, an outdoor picnic table, a temperature-controlled gazebo, and a fire pit for our guests to enjoy the view of the animals grazing in the pasture.
