  2. Head to the Mines of Spain Recreation Area for more gorgeous views of Dubuque’s fall colors. Hike through scenic trails that showcase the area’s vibrant fall foliage, and enjoy the stunning views of the river and bluffs. The Horseshoe Bluff Trail is one of the most iconic trails here. 
  3. For more iconic river views, head to Eagle Point Park. This park is known for its sweeping river views and colorful autumn trees, perfect for a fall picnic.
  4. The Great River Road passes through Dubuque, which means it’s an excellent place to enjoy fall birdwatching and wildlife along this iconic waterway. While you’re in the area, don’t miss visiting the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, where you’ll have a chance to explore the history and ecology of the Mississippi River.   5. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the season at the Dubuque Farmers Market. This is the oldest farmers market in Iowa and features plenty of fresh produce, local crafts, and seasonal treats from around the area. 
  6. One of our favorite things to do in Dubuque, Iowa, each fall is to visit the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. There are beautiful walking and biking trails and four seasons of gardens to enjoy. 
  7. Make sure to take a break after enjoying some of these top-rated things to do in Dubuque, Iowa! The Potosi Brewing Company is a great place to unwind with a crisp, cool pint of locally crafted beer. 
  8. Dubuque is just a short drive across the river from another one of our favorite historic towns in the Midwest: Galena.
